Call to Worship:
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. - Revelation 22:17 Worship Through Giving “The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.” — Psalm 24: 1 Old Testament Reading – Isaiah 55:1-9 55 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. 4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. 5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. 6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. We’re going to sing Come Thou Fount, but we’re adding an old verse that isn’t in our hymnals, so after the last verse in the hymnal, look up and the words will be on the screen for an extra verse. Our God is the fountain of every blessing. He gives us streams of mercy, never ceasing, that call for us to sing songs of loudest praise. So, if you’re able, please stand and sing #17 – Come Thou Fount. 17 – Come Thou Fount Prayer of Confession On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” – John 7:37 Knowing this, let’s confess our sins to God in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, You are the God who freely gives living water, but we have been far too easily pleased with the things of this world. We have tried to find satisfaction and happiness in anything and everything, We have bowed down to any idol that has promised to quench our thirst, But you alone can satisfy. You alone are out maker. You designed and crafted us to worship You, but we have not given you the honor or the worship you deserve. Help us to turn from all false worship that can’t satisfy. Help us and lead us even now as we enter a time of private confession. Private Confession Assurance of Pardon “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” – John 7:38
