Why HBC Kids exists:

HBC Kids is a ministry of Horicon Baptist Church aimed at equipping families for growing disciples in the home. While we recognize the biblical precedent of the home being the primary discipleship unit, there is also a clear precedent concerning the active role of the church in raising up future generations of Christ-worshipers. Our desire is to unite these two realities – faith and home – so that the church proactively supports the growth of young Christ-followers and works toward discernible differences in the lives of both child and parent. Our great hope through this ministry is to join with parents and guardians to guide young people toward a knowledge and love for Christ and His gospel.
2 Options for Parents on Sunday:

1. Children in Worship

At Horicon Baptist Church, we are eager to disciple our children and teach them from the earliest age to worship our Lord with the congregation. We welcome children of all ages into the service.
We also have a cry room in the back of the church for parents to use.

To the parents of young children:

  • Don’t worry, you’re not being a distraction. Helping kids learn how to worship Jesus is way more important than having a perfectly quiet church.
  • Sing, pray, and voice responses. Children learn by copying your involvement! Even consider singing directly to your children.
  • Quietly explain parts of the service and answer any questions they might have.
  • If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so, but don’t be afraid to come back! We’ve all been there.
  • It takes time. If your kids aren’t used to being in the service, that’s normal. Your kids are learning something new!
  • If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask!
  • Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me.”
The presence of children is a gift to the Church, so we welcome them with open arms.

2. Childcare

For parents who want their children to receive age-specific instruction, childcare is available for kids 7 and under. Children can be brought to the children's area once the sermon has begun.

Presently, our Children's Ministry Procedures and Child Protection Policy does not allow HBC Kids volunteers to take any children to the restroom or change diapers. For any children who are still in diapers or who need assistance going to the bathroom, we do ask parents to take their children to the restroom and/or put on a fresh diaper prior to checking them into HBC Kids. Therefore, most children will not need a diaper change or require the restroom during HBC Kids. However, in the case where a child requires a diaper change or needs to use the restroom, parents will be contacted via text so they can care for their child. You can read the full Child Protection Policy at the bottom of this page.
